New Year’s Eve “special” Public Skate session

Join our New Year’s Eve Party at SIA! We are hosting a special New Year’s Eve party of our own with an additional “Public Session” from 7:30-9:30pm on Thursday evening December 31st.

Party favors and a live DJ will be provided. We will count down to the New Year  “live” watching the ball drop New York’s Times Square at 9:00pm. Come join the fun!

Also, You can come join us on New Year’s Day for special open Public Sessions as well.

Public Sessions will be as follows on New Year’s Day:
(Note these three separate and special Holiday session times on Friday afternoon/evening)
Friday 1/1 from 1:30-4:00pm and another separate session from 4:30-7:00pm as well as another separate session from 7:30-10:00pm

Here at Sherwood Ice Arena we offer open Public Skate Sessions every day!  Please, please check the right hand side of this home page for any updates or changes to our regular Public Session schedule.  Rates are listed under the “General Info” drop down menu above.  We are extending free Public Session and skate rental for any child 4 years or younger as long as they are accompanied by a paying adult.  Also, anyone registered in our beginners Learn to Skate Program (Basic 4 and below) are provided unlimited free public sessions for those months they’re enrolled in Learn to Skate class.  A great reason to sign up for skating lessons!  (Coupons, vouchers, and free passes not accepted during Christmas break and Spring break sessions)

8th annual Holiday Shootout Adult Hockey Tourney 12/26-30th

Announcing the 8th annual Holiday SIA Shootout Hockey Tournament!  This event is being held from December 26th-30th.  There will be 3 separate divisions of play which are listed below. SGK-3C WR

This year we’re excited that some of our proceeds for this event will go directly to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.  During the tourney we will also be accepting additional donations for those who would like to donate further to the SGK Breast Cancer Awareness cause . There will be three divisions of play: 

4v4 (all levels) Draft*     or Silver B and below     or Silver BB/A 

4v4 all levels Draft Division*:  

 $70 per player ($5 goes to the SGK foundation charity)

  • Players of any playing ability can register and play
  • Similar to Over 35 style of league play except for all aged adults
  • Lots of open ice out there and great ice time
  • Single minor penalties are automatic penalty shots
  • Lower roster requirements
  • Four games guaranteed
  • Free tournament t-shirt
  • Registration Payments taken by phone or at rink
  • Request can be made to play on the same team as one other player as long as it works out in the draft and that player isn’t already in a package request – No guarantees
  • Schedules are up on Sportability

Silver A/BB Division  -SOLD OUT /   Silver B and below Division -SOLD OUT (No Silver BB rostered player is eligible, so only Silver B and below rostered players allowed)

  • $949 a team ($50 goes to the SGK foundation)
  • Four games guaranteed
  • 15 free tournament shirts per team
  • Non-refundable deposits of $299 due November 15th
  • Rosters & full team payments due December 6th
  • Schedules are up on Sportability
  • First 4 teams with paid deposit of $299 will get in. You may choose from available team schedules once you pay the deposit.
  • There may be teams looking for players so feel free to email me if you are one of those and I will try to find you a team.

(* Draft league – Similar to Over 35 League)   Play with new people and meet new friends. This level is designed to allow more ice time for all and more opportunities to get the puck. The draft will be handled by the hockey department here at SIA in order to balance the parity of the four teams. If you want to play with a friend and be a “package,” please make your requests known to the Hockey Director prior to registration (limit 2 people). Goalies must register with the Hockey Director as well.  The first 48 skaters registered and paid per division will be entered into the tournament.  Player fee is $70.  Call SIA between 10am-5pm daily to register and pay to have your name be placed in the draft pool. Rosters will be capped at 13 skaters and a goalie.  * Individual players wishing to get on a team for this draft event should call the arena at 503 625 5757  between 10am-5pm daily.

All games will be played during normal adult league times with the exception of Saturday and Sunday games, which may have a few morning games added.  

Every player MUST have current USA Hockey Insurance, no exceptions.

Registration is open for the Spring 2016 season.  Play begins on Saturday January 16th.   For pricing, dates, and further information click the link “Adult Hockey League brochure Winter 2016″ above for a pdf of the brochure.  STILL HAVE QUESTIONS? To start your registration: CLICK HERE – Please keep in mind the USA Hockey website does maintenance periodically at night so you may run into an issue if signing up late at night since the registration website needs to validate the USA Hockey # entered before moving on to the next step. If this happens, just try again in the morning and it should go through fine. It’s out of our control as to when they do the maintenance so please don’t wait till the last minute to register.

The 2016 Spring season comes with a guaranteed 16 games consisting of 15 regular season games with the guarantee of a minimum of 1 playoff game as always. Fees will be $347 for skaters, $80 for goalies and $75 for captains if paid before the early bird discount deadline of December 6th, 2015. On December 7th 2015 or later, the cost will go up by $30. The payment plan option will be offered online only and requires $160 down at time of registration, then 2 separate automatic payments due/withdrawn on February 15th, 2016 and March 15th, 2016 for $119 each. The payment plan option is not available for goalies or captains and is only available in the online registration. League levels being offered this season are:
4v4 – All Levels Draft League – Fridays – Great skate for those wanting lots of ice time and good exercise!
Over 35 Draft League – Mondays – Register ASAP as this league fills up fast!
Gold – Thursdays
Silver AA – Sundays
Silver A – Wednesdays
Silver BB – Saturdays
Silver B – Saturday & Sundays (1 slot on Saturdays)
Silver C – Tuesday & Saturdays (1 slot on Tuesdays)
Bronze – Tuesday
The majority of the games will be on the day listed with slight possibility of a few exceptions due to any pre-planned event, tournament, holiday, or playoff scheduling as we always have around this time of the year. Free agents are welcome in all leagues at this time. Please don’t hesitate to email me if you have any questions or concerns about any of the leagues or on finding a team for you or not. It is your responsibility as a player to review all rules and regulations and abide by them when playing here at Sherwood Ice Arena. Schedule Updates

Recent changes to our schedule:
Changes to our regular schedule: Updated December 15th, 2015

Weekday morning Freestyle times will be adjusted during the Christmas break from 12/21 through 12/30. The 5am hour will be cancelled for these two weeks and we will start at 6am on our normal weekday morning Freestyle days. On Friday 1/1/2016 morning Freestyle will be cancelled.

Prime Time Freestyle will have two 1 hour long sessions on Tuesday 12/22.
5:10 to 6:10pm as well as 6:10 to 7:10pm

Just a reminder: Learn to Skate is not offered on Wednesday 12/23 nor on Saturday 12/26. Please remember it is being held on Wednesday 12/30.

Public Session on Thursday 12/24 will be shortened and end at 4pm. The session runs from 1:30 till 4:00pm on Christmas Eve.

The Arena will be closed on Friday December 25th in observance of Christmas.

On Saturday 12/26 our Prime Time Freestyle Sessions will be cancelled.

Public Sessions will be as follows on Christmas weekend:
Saturday 12/26 from 1:00-3:30pm
Sunday 12/27 from 1:00-3:30pm

On Sunday 12/27 the LTPH “Game Time” session is not part of the semester and will not be held.
