- Over 12 + years of coaching experience
- Specializes in jump technique, footwork, choreography (for both IJS/6.0 systems) spins and moves in the field
- Throughout my years as a skater, I have traveled throughout North America for secondary instruction, while maintaining a head coach, Holly Viall, for much of my competitive career. I have worked with National and Olympic coaches, including Doug Leigh, Canadian Olympic coach of Elvis Stoyko and Brian Orser, Richard Callahan, coach to Tara Lipinski, Todd Eldredge, and Evy and Mary Scotvold, coaches to Nancy Kerrigan and Paul Wylie. This afforded me the opportunity to observe a variety of skating techniques, which has been a valuable resource when working with different styles of learning; visual, auditory, and kinesthetic
- A bit about me: I grew in Massachusetts, received my BA in Journalism from Quinnipiac University in Connecticut in 2004. I wrote for publications in Montana, while also coaching skating, before moving to Oregon in 2008.In addition to coaching skating, I currently worked as a manager for a media company since 2008. The overall balance of a skater is important to me, as well as ensuring a skater has a strong foundation to build from. My favorite moves in skating are jumps and footwork and my favorite skater is Elvis Stojko!
- I am currently accepting new students and enjoy working with all types of skating abilities. Sherwood Ice Arena is my home rink and I also coach at other rinks in the Portland Metro area. Please feel free to email me with any questions as well as to schedule lessons, thanks!
