Philosophy: Shannon welcomes the opportunity to pass on her love of figure skating to skaters of all levels and ages.   While continuing her coaching education through the Professional Skaters Association, she consistently strives to bring best skating education to each student.  Her main goal is for her students to have fun learning life skills and achieving their figure skating goals whether they are an elite or recreational skater.

Coaching Background: Shannon has over 19 years coaching experience in both Southern California and Oregon.  She has enjoyed coaching students from Beginner through the Senior levels in Freestyle and Moves in the Field.  Shannon’s students have competed and medaled in many local and regional USFS and ISI competitions as well as ISI Worlds. Shannon has been the Competitive Figure Skating Director for Sherwood Ice Arena since 2008 where she heads up clinics, camps and ISI competitions.

.Skating Background: Shannon started skating in Southern California, where she trained in freestyle, figures and pairs.  While training under Ice Follies Professional, Jerry Rehfield, as well as Olympic, European and World competitor and coach, Hans Mueller, Shannon competed in many local and regional USFS competitions and performed in ice shows and exhibitions.  Currently, Shannon still enjoys ice dancing and has recently competed at the 2008 US Figure Skating Adult Pacific Sectionals.  Ballet and dance has been a large inspiration in Shannon’s skating and coaching.

While Shannon is not coaching figure skating she enjoys cooking, hiking, traveling and spending time with her husband and two children.

 

Schedule Updates

Recent changes to our schedule:
Changes to our regular schedule: Updated 7/27/2015

We will now open at 6:00am for Freestyle Sessions Mon, Tue, Wed, and Friday mornings starting Monday July 27th. We will return to a 5am opening time after Labor Day.

All public events will be canceled on Saturday August 22nd due to the CSFC Competition being hosted here that weekend. This means that Stick Time, Freestyle, Learn to Skate, and Public Session will not be held on that day.

Morning 7:30-9:30am Freestyle Session on Sunday August23rd will be cancelled due to the CSFC Competition as well as Stick Time and LTPH that morning

Planet Hockey Camp week:
The week of August 24thth through the 28th we will be hosting Planet Hockey youth Elite camp. Our schedule will be changed for many programs this week. Here are some of the changes:
• Morning Freestyle M, T, W & F will be from 6:00-9:00am.
• Morning Public Session will be canceled all week.
• Morning Stick Time on Monday the 24th and Tuesday the 25th will be canceled.
• Coffee Club on Wednesday the 26th and Friday the 28th will be canceled.
• Pick up Hockey on Thursday August 27tht will be canceled.
• Afternoon Public Session will begin later at 2:15pm Monday through Thursday that week and Friday afternoon’s Public Session will start a bit early at 1:15pm.

Morning Freestyle Session on Monday August 31st will be adjusted as we get closure to this date due to the CSFC Test session schedule for that date. Stay tuned for more details.
